LONDON PRIDE – fancy a pint? February 17, 2013

I’ve got a play on soon… The lovely people who are Blackshaw Theatre Company are to produce LONDON PRIDE this coming May as part of the Wandsworth Arts Festival and Fringe. I’m thrilled that the play will get a proper production (it received a reading at RADA back in 2011) and also overjoyed that it’s to be paired as a double bill with writer M.J. Starling. LONDON PRIDE and Audience With Ghost Finder will be performed at The Selkirk Upstairs in Tooting. I’m also really really chuffed that it’s in a pub as that’s where my play is set.

They’re also casting for both plays so if you’re of the Acting variety then have a ganders at the breakdowns and get applying. And there are also some Designer/Crew opportunities too. More details: here

And here’s a bit more info about the two plays…

LONDON PRIDE by Katie McCullough

In Shelly’s rundown pub dreams are revived, hope falters and someone’s looking for a fight.

A new arrival sends ripples through Shelly’s humdrum life and riles Joe, a regular determined to defend his territory.

Audience with the Ghost Finder by M. J. Starling

1912. To lift a cruel curse, ab-natural investigator Carnacki must tread the border between enlightenment and madness.

Sherlock Holmes meets Ghostbusters in this original tale of William Hope Hodgson’s classic character, Carnacki the ghost finder.

So times and dates are as follows:

May 8th, 9th, 10th, 15th and 17th all kicking off at 7:30pm

Tickets are £10 and that gets you in to see BOTH plays – what a bargain! Tickets will be available soon so keep an eye on the Blackshaw Twitter or Facebook or their website. Niceness.

Blackshaw New Writing Night March 15, 2011

This is the rescheduled date for my short piece that’s receiving a rehearsed reading. The piece is called, ‘That’s What Christmas Means To Me‘ and is going to be read by Raymond Coker and Carole Street, they’ll be directed by Nadia Papachronopoulou.

Blackshaw Social Club are proud to present our third monthly New Writing Night! Head to the Horse, grab a gin (other beverages are available), colonise a comfy sofa and…

…watch! – another outstanding selection of rehearsed play readings, poetry and comedy.

…take part! – help the writers, actors and directors get the feedback they need. Jot down your thoughts, chat to our roving reporters, tweet at us, or chat to the artists in the bar afterwards.

…don’t worry that it’s a school night! – we run a tight ship; if you like, you can be on your way home around 9pm.

This month’s line-up:
Poetry by Prudence Chamberlain
‘So Lonesome I Could Cry’ by Gareth Brown
Extract from ‘Princess’ by Melody Parker
‘That’s What Christmas Means To Me’ by Katie McCullough

Entry: £4.00

Come down and have a gin. I’ll be there. With gin. And throughout the night the audience is encouraged to give feedback to the pieces so it’s a real experience.

Another Short Play… February 12, 2011

***MY PLAY HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO THE MARCH BLACKSHAW SOCIAL CLUB ALTHOUGH I WILL STILL BE IN ATTENDANCE***

There’s been a valid reason why I’ve had less of a social life than the normal little I actually have. I have another short play being performed by Blackshaw Theatre Company as part of their new writing night at The Horse bar on February 24th. I’m super excited to see my script, “That’s What Christmas Means To Me” being directed by Nadia Papachronopolou with cast members TBC.

The Horse (Closest tube, Lambeth North).

Entry: £4.00

Directions and contact information for The Horse can be found on their website: www.horsebar.co.uk

The evening kicks off at 7:30pm and tickets are available on the door. Seating is limited, so pop along early for a drink and a chance to nab one of the comfy leather sofas.

Blackshaw Social Club are proud to present our second monthly New Writing Night! The new year launch night was a standing-room-only success. Help us make the February follow-up even better!

Watch! – a selection of rehearsed play readings, poetry and comedy.

Take part! – help the writers, actors and directors get the feedback they need. Jot down your thoughts, chat to our roving reporters, tweet at us, or chat to the artists in the bar afterwards.

Don’t worry that it’s a school night! – we run a tight ship; if you like, you can be on your way home around 9pm.
